Nutrition

Good nutritional care is an important part of your recovery. Your diet is ordered by your physician and depends upon your diagnosis and medical condition. Our staff of professional, registered dietitians is available to assess your nutritional requirements and provide individualized nutrition counseling. Group classes on heart healthy and diabetic nutrition are also offered. Please check with your nurse for further information.

We are committed to providing our patients with quality foods that are well prepared and attractively served. Our 7-day cycle menu offers a selection of appetizing hot and cold entrees, daily specials and a wide variety of choices to accommodate individual dietary preferences.

Deluxe Suites Meals

For patients in deluxe private suites, gourmet meal service is standard for each meal. You may eat when you wish and guests are welcome to join patients for meals. There is an additional charge for guest meals.

Guest Trays

Visitors may order a meal tray through the unit clerk. Requests should be placed before 7 a.m. for breakfast, 11 a.m. for lunch, or 4 p.m. for dinner. Visitors may choose from the 7-day cycle menu. If the request is received after these times, visitors may be served a meal of the chef's choice. Cash payment is required at the time of delivery.

Meal Selection

We are committed to providing our patients with quality foods that are well prepared and attractively served. Our 7-day cycle menu offers a selection of appetizing hot and cold entrees, daily specials and a wide variety of "Pro-Health Dining" (PhD) choices to accommodate individual dietary preferences.

Menus for the next day will be delivered to you each morning by your hospitality assistant. To order, simply circle the foods you'd like for each meal.

Meal times are:

  • Breakfast, 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.
  • Lunch, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Dinner, 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Off-schedule Meal Service

Special medical procedures or tests may affect your regular meal service. Your tray may be held or you may receive a special diet before your test. Off-schedule meal services are:

  • Breakfast, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
  • Lunch, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Dinner, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Snacks

Snacks, nourishments and kosher meals are also available. Ask your nurse to arrange this service for you.

Gourmet Meals

Our gourmet meals program combines elegant food and service with optimal nutrition for your health and well being.

For your dining pleasure, gourmet evening meals are prepared by the experienced staff in our gourmet kitchen and delivered to your room. Your nurse should make reservations by noon and a hospitality assistant will bring you a menu and take your order between 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

There is an $11.50 charge per meal. Our staff will be happy to accommodate special diet requests; PhD options are identified on the menu. For patients in deluxe private suites, gourmet meal service is standard for each meal. You may eat when you wish and guests are welcome to join patients for meals. There is an additional charge for guest meals.

Dining Options

Visitors will find a fresh and inviting array of food choices in our cafeteria located on the ground floor of the main hospital and in the café located in the Physicians' Office Building.

The Cafeteria

The cafeteria features international and regional fare, two salad bars, sandwich buffet, wraps, pizza and fast-food items. Frozen yogurt, a variety of freshly baked desserts, and a selection of gourmet coffees are available. Patients who are delayed from receiving regular tray service may eat in the dining room at no charge by presenting a "courtesy slip" signed by an authorized representative from their unit. Hours of service are as follows:

The Tower Café

The Tower Café offers gourmet-food items in a French-bistro atmosphere. Located in the Physicians' Office Building South Tower, the cafe is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The breakfast menu features breakfast sandwiches and pizzas; the lunch menu features homemade soups, sandwiches, pizza, salads and pasta. Food and drinks are available 24 hours a day from coin-operated machines in the canteen, located near the main cafeteria. Snacks also are available from the Lobby Shop and at hospitality carts located throughout the hospital.
