A Letter from Our President

John SullivanDear Neighbor:

I am pleased to announce our hospital’s formation of a Patient and Family Advisory Council for Quality and Safety (PFACQS). Being the primary provider of health care in our community, MedStar Washington Hospital Center greatly appreciates its relationship with surrounding communities for generations. We are committed to providing quality health care to you and your family. We value this relationship and truly believe that creating this council with a shared vision will help to build stronger and healthier communities. The PFACQS is part of the MedStar Health Institute for Quality and Safety, which leads quality and safety initiatives across all MedStar entities.

Our goal is to create a council that embodies partnership and communication. The council will reflect the diverse communities we serve – diversity in terms of income level, racial and ethnic makeup, health status and religion, to name a few. The council will be composed of patients, family members and/or friends of patients and community leaders, as well as health care professionals.

The MedStar Washington Hospital Center PFACQS will focus initially on hospital care for adult patients and help create informed decisions about hospital programs in how they deliver care and provide services. The scope of the work of the council is expected to expand eventually to include care for children.

We encourage you to consider submitting an application and joining us on this collaborative journey to serve the community. Once the council is formed, the group will meet once per month for 2-3 hours in the evening. Dinner will be served.

If you have questions, please call us at (855) 248-8800 or visit our website at MedStarHealth.org/PFACQS.

Thank you for considering this opportunity to make a difference in your community.

Sincerely,

John Sullivan
President, MedStar Washington Hospital Center
