Advanced care for complex and rare conditions that affect the blood vessels

Our vascular surgeons evaluate and treat diseases that affect the blood vessels. We are the largest and most experienced vascular disease program in the area. We perform more aortic surgeries than any other health system in the mid-Atlantic region, and we’re a recognized leader in the treatment of peripheral artery disease.

Providing vascular surgery services in 11 acute care hospitals and 15 outpatient clinics, patients who live in the area can get care close to home. Due to our extensive experience, patients are flown to our facilities from hundreds of miles away to receive comprehensive, specialized care for vascular diseases.

Our specialists are widely respected, and area vascular surgeons often refer patients with complex cases to us. We work with each patient’s primary care physician as well as other MedStar network physicians, such as diabetes and kidney specialists, to ensure a well-rounded approach to care.

Our program is at the forefront of advanced technology and procedures. We collaborate on numerous clinical trials and help train the next generation of surgeons through fellowship and residency programs.

We treat patients with traditional and minimally invasive endovascular techniques, which we can perform at the same time as needed in our hybrid operating suite. The suite incorporates advanced operating room functionality with much higher-quality imaging technology than is available at most centers.
