Washington, D.C., April 20, 2015 – For the second year in a row, Becker’s Hospital Review has named Med Star Washington Hospital Center to its 2015 list of “100 Great Hospitals in America,” a compilation of the most prominent, forward-thinking and focused health-care facilities in the nation.
Becker’s recognized the Hospital Center as a facility that provides best-in-class patient care and identified the institution as a stalwart in the community. The Hospital Center was also cited as operating a Comprehensive Stroke Center and for having the District’s only Cardiac Ventricular Assist Device Program, both to be certified by the Joint Commission.
To develop the list, Becker’s Hospital Review’s editorial team conducted research and evaluated reputable hospital ranking sources, such as U.S.News & World Report, Healthgrades, and several other resources. The final result is a group of 100 hospitals that are leaders in their region, their state and the nation in terms of high-quality patient care.
The hospitals included in the 2015 edition of “100 Great Hospitals in America” can be found here.
MedStar Washington Hospital Center is a 926-bed, major teaching and research hospital. It is the largest private, not-for-profit hospital in the nation’s capital, among the 100 largest hospitals in the nation and a major referral center for treating the most complex cases. U.S.News & World Report consistently ranks the hospital’s cardiology and heart surgery program as one of the nation’s best. It also is a respected top facility in the areas of cancer, diabetes & endocrinology, Ear, Nose & Throat, gastroenterology & GI surgery, geriatrics, gynecology, nephrology, pulmonology and urology. It operates MedSTAR, a nationally-verified level I trauma center with a state-of-the-art fleet of helicopters and ambulances, and also operates the region’s only adult Burn Center.
