Senior Vice President, Administrative Services
James P. Hill joined MedStar Washington Hospital Center in 2010 as Senior Vice President of Administrative Services. With almost 25 years of senior management experience in health care, Hill has executive oversight for the Human Resources, Labor Relations, Information Services, Supply Chain and Materials Management, and Process Improvement departments.
Hill came to the Hospital Center from Chicago where he served as the executive vice president of Administrative Services for Resurrection Health Care (RHC) the last half of his 16-year tenure with the organization. He was part of an executive management team that built RHC into the second largest integrated delivery network in Illinois. From 2007 to 2009, he served a term as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Illinois Hospital Association.
He came to RHC from Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center, now known as Rush University Medical Center, where he served as associate vice president/associate administrator of human resources and as co-director of the Total Quality Management initiative at Rush. While at Rush, he also held a faculty appointment as an assistant professor in the Department of Health Systems Management in the College of Health Sciences at Rush University.
As an author or as a co-author, Hill’s work has been published in journals such as Hospital and Health Services Administration and in the books Total Quality Management: Strategies for Healthcare Excellence and Human Resources Management in the Health Care Sector.
He obtained his undergraduate degree from St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland and he earned his master’s degree in industrial/labor relations from Loyola University of Chicago. He also completed the requirements for a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago. He is a licensed attorney in Illinois and is admitted to practice in federal court for the Northern District of Illinois.
