Thomas Stahl, MD, FACS, is a board-certified colon and rectal surgeon and an assistant clinical professor of surgery at MedStar Georgetown University Medical Center. Dr. Stahl serves as the Interim Chairman of the Department of Surgery at MedStar Washington Hopsital Center and the regional director of the MedStar Colorectal Surgery Program at MedStar Health.
Dr. Stahl is gratified in his work because it allows him to use the latest medical advances to treat a wide range of complex conditions. Because managing health issues can be stressful for patients, he believes an important part of his role is to help alleviate his patients' concerns and put them at ease. Dr. Stahl's guiding principle is to treat his patients the same way he, or those he cares about, would want to be treated.
With more than 25 years' experience in treating colorectal disease, Dr. Stahl has presented at more than 40 medical symposia nationwide and contributed to numerous publications in the field of colon and rectal surgery. He has earned research awards from the National Institutes of Health and the Institute for Basic and Applied Research in Surgery.
