Surgical Critical Care Services- MedStar Health

The critical care program is an integrated, multidisciplinary system of patient care provided to patients who have, or are at risk for, single or multiple major organ failure.

The critical care specialists take care of the patient on a full-time basis while they are in the surgical intensive care unit. Surgical critical care offers global and systematic care of the critically ill patient, providing a continuity of care that is unparalleled in other clinical settings in the metropolitan area. Care is coordinated and directed in a team-oriented process, which judiciously adopts new technologies to fully and properly utilize available resources.
