Jonathan Hwang, MD, is the Chairman of Urology, the Director of Robotic Surgery at MedStar Washington Hospital Center and an Associate Professor in Urology at Georgetown University School of Medicine. Since 2003, he has completed more than 2,500 robotic surgeries including over 2,100 robotic prostatectomies to date. He is considered one of the foremost robotic surgery experts in urologic oncology in the mid-Atlantic region.
Dr. Hwang earned his medical degree with an AOA honors distinction from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He completed residencies in Surgery and Urology at Boston University School of Medicine. He was a Clinical Fellow in the Urologic Oncology Branch at the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.
Dr. Hwang is the Associate Editor of the Korean Journal of Urology and serves as a Scientific Reviewer for the Journal of Endourology, Journal of Urology, Urologic Oncology, Medical Science Monitor and Department of Defense Prostate Cancer Research Program. He has authored numerous journal articles and book chapters for various urologic publications.
