Allison Glubiak, CNM, RN, MSN, is a certified nurse midwife at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. She provides full-scope midwifery care to healthy women during pregnancy, labor and birth, and postpartum as well as well-woman and primary care. Allison is part of a team of midwives dedicated to offering high-quality, high-touch care. Research shows that having a midwife as part of the care team improves outcomes and enhances the experience of pregnancy and childbirth.
Allison’s practice employs a holistic approach, focusing on both the emotional and physical health of the woman. Education is also a large part of Allison’s practice. She aims to create an open environment for women and families, where they have the ability to ask questions and have honest discussions. This creates a safe place for communication and helps women feel more empowered throughout the decision making process.
Allison’s passion for women’s health guided her to seek a career as a midwife. She received her degree in nurse midwifery from Columbia University. She began her work as a midwife in New York before moving to California to continue her practice. As a native Virginian, she is excited to join MedStar and move back to the area with her husband.
Philosophy of Care
“Each woman has her own story and hopes for her childbirth experience. This guides me as I individualize care for each mother. Although pregnancy and childbirth can present unpredictable situations, I work hard to deliver personalized care that meets the expectations of each patient.”
“It’s an honor to work with women during this transformative point in their lives. This is a time where we focus on empowering women, helping them to feel confident in the decisions they make regarding their health and the health of their child. In order to build trusting relationships with my patients, I create a supportive environment where we can share information and have an open dialogue. I cherish the ability to continue our relationship beyond childbirth and care for women throughout their lifespan.”
